are many quarterbacks in the world having various offensive roles. Despite of
their roles, there are few traits that a good quarterback has and should have.
These following tips are good for youths who are learning quarterbacks drills
which makes them successful:
Hardworking habit: Quarterbacks skills are the most difficult to learn in
football. The over head throwing motion, so called the hardest thing to learn
in sports is also learnt by these quarterback players. So, in order to be a
good and successful quarterback player, one should be hardworking. He should
regularly watch football, play football, focus and practice a lot in training
grounds and take tips from coaches and then improve.
Have feelings of
competition: A good quarterback
must have feelings of competition. One should always try to good on comparison
to others so that he can get better in the game. He can then be a good and
distinct player and can also be great successful player. This feeling also help
to maintain pressure in games.
Athletic player: In order to maintain tempo and control of the game, a
player must be a good athlete too. In order to be good at offense a quarterback
must have good athletic skills. The quarterback position is not one to hide a
marginal athlete.
Stance and Center Exchange

Stance: He should have a good and balanced kind of stance so
that he’s agile on the ground and can move in any place. His feet should be
shoulder-width apart and a little bit pigeon toed. By keeping his head and eyes
up, he should also bend his knees relaxed.
Snap: Fundamentally, the vital points for snaps are hand and
arms. By keeping knees bent and pressuring with bottom hand, one can do
snapping quite easily.
Shotgun: Shotgun is a type of snap which is essential for athletic
stance of quarterback. He should always maintain his knees bent so that he can
catch any kind of snap. Until and unless the ball’s caught before its execution
the quarterback should keep holding. If a quarterback bents away then he cannot
catch even poor snaps.
Handling the ball
It is very much essential to
learn quarterback skills since school time. Getting the concepts of handling
the ball since the young age is essential. It would make any coaches happy to
see that the players have learnt such skills in school and the offensive
matters run smoothly. Although every offenses have their own tricks, fundamentals
are fundamentals.
Handoffs: Delivery of ball deep is essential when the player is
running behind. The ball should also be delivered vertically.
Tossing of the Ball: There are several chief skills necessary for tossing
of the ball. It helps the ball to be easily caught by runner as it is on
target.
Option pitches: Option pitch is essential to learn as most of the
teams rely on shotgun technique on the center. One must be under control on the
pitch. Pitching of ball can be done in two ways: thumb down and pinkie up. It
is similar to the wrist position of basketball players.
